BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Although impaired diastolic function is frequently found in systemic hypertension, the diagnosis of hypertensive heart disease (HHD) is based on the demonstration of left ventricular (LV) growth. The aim of the current work was to investigate the potential interactions between diastolic function and LV growth in patients with arterial hypertension. PATIENTS AND METHOD: One hundred and sixteen never-treated asymptomatic hypertensives underwent an echocardiographic evaluation.
