High temperature superconductivity is one of the most amazing features in modern solid state physics. And the mechanism being responsible for forming the Cooper pairs in the doped high Tc cuprates is still controversial. A majority of scientists believes that this formation is due to antiferromagnetic fluctuations, whereas others are convinced that phonons at least need to be considered for a full understanding of this formation. In any case there exist very interesting superconductivity-induced phonon effects. This PhD thesis will add a new anisotropic phonon effect, a transfer of spectral weight at Tc between the buckling phonon mode and an apical phonon mode.
