Eine intensive Riftphase bestimmte während des Oberjuras die Entwicklung des Lusitanischen Beckens in Portugal. Es wurde im Zuge von tektono-eustatischen Ereignissen im Bereich des Zentral-Atlantiks in Form eines transgressiven/regressiven Mega-Zyklothems 2. Ordnung verfüllt. In dieser Arbeit werden die randlichen Ablagerungssequenzen des Oxfordiums, die den transgressiven Teil des Zyklothems bilden einer regionalen vergleichenden Analyse von Fazies, Sedimentologie und Palökolgie unterzogen.
