ABSTRACT: In this Master Thesis we will intend to analyze the political and diplomatic strategies used during the Hellenistic period, focusing on the reign of Antiochus III of Syria. We will see why this monarch is an excellent example for treating internal policies and the legitimation of power, or external, like alliances or wars. This study will explain the diplomatic actions in which this King was involved, and how his actions affected his Kingdom and other territories and peoples. Within this study also will be seen, in its political and diplomat senses, the expansion of the Republic of Rome to the East and the decline of the Greek City-States and the Hellenic kingdoms.
