Responsibility of SRY gene in human sexual determination

Tato práce se zabývá genem SRY a jeho širokým vlivem a působením především na pohlavní diferenciaci člověka. Na začátku podávám obecné informace o umístění genu SRY a také obecné informace o chromozomu Y a jeho vzniku. Dále pojednám o historii a vědeckých poznatcích, které vedly k objevení SRY a určení jeho funkce. Popíši také jeho biochemickou podstatu a mechanismus působení. Ve zkratce zmíním i další geny, které vedou v diferenciaci pohlaví plodu v muže či ženu a nemoci způsobené jejich mutacemi. Na závěr popisuji vybrané somatosexuální poruchy, jejichž vznik je spojován s genem SRY: například hermafroditismus a jeho formy, různé typy gonadálních dysgenezí, syndromy spojené s početními odchylkami gonozomů, ale také další syndromy, jako je například Swyer syndrom, nebo syndrom necitlivosti na androgeny.This work deals with the SRY gene and its wide influence and effects mainly on sexual differentiation of human. At the beginning I give a general information about the location of the SRY gene, as well as general information of the Y chromosome and its origin. Further I discuss the history and science researches that led to the discovery of SRY, and to the determining its function. I will also describe the biochemical structure and the mechanism of its action. I mention briefly other genes that result in fetal sex differentiation in male or female and illnesses caused by their mutations. In conclusion, I describe selected somatosexual disorders whose origin is associated with the SRY gene, such as hermaphroditism and its forms, various types of gonadal dysgenesis, syndromes associated with numerical abnormalities of gonozomes, but also other syndromes, such as Swyer syndrome, or syndrome of androgen insensitivity.Katedra biologických a biochemických věd1.
