Tato práce se zabývá genem SRY a jeho širokým vlivem a působením především na pohlavní diferenciaci člověka. Na začátku podávám obecné informace o umístění genu SRY a také obecné informace o chromozomu Y a jeho vzniku. Dále pojednám o historii a vědeckých poznatcích, které vedly k objevení SRY a určení jeho funkce. Popíši také jeho biochemickou podstatu a mechanismus působení. Ve zkratce zmíním i další geny, které vedou v diferenciaci pohlaví plodu v muže či ženu a nemoci způsobené jejich mutacemi. Na závěr popisuji vybrané somatosexuální poruchy, jejichž vznik je spojován s genem SRY: například hermafroditismus a jeho formy, různé typy gonadálních dysgenezí, syndromy spojené s početními odchylkami gonozomů, ale také další syndromy, jako je...
