A study on the production chain of cape gooseberry (Physalis peruviana L.) has been carried out in order to know the present situation of this Andean fruit and in order to evaluate the strengths and limitations of the production systems and the internal and external commercialization of both the fruit being fresh and raw and the fruit after it has been processed. 90% of cape gooseberry producers are small ones and medium-sized ones (less than 5 ha of cultivated land). A semi-technified system is used to grow cape gooseberry.
