Estudio de la cadena productiva de uvilla (Physalis peruviana L.) en la Sierra norte del Ecuador

A study on the production chain of cape gooseberry (Physalis peruviana L.) has been carried out in order to know the present situation of this Andean fruit and in order to evaluate the strengths and limitations of the production systems and the internal and external commercialization of both the fruit being fresh and raw and the fruit after it has been processed. 90% of cape gooseberry producers are small ones and medium-sized ones (less than 5 ha of cultivated land). A semi-technified system is used to grow cape gooseberry. This system lacks technical assistance and has deficiencies as to how fertilization is handled and as to the cracking caused on the fruit, which seriously affects more than 80% of cultivated soil and causes losses of about 15% to 20% of the crops.Se realizó un estudio de la cadena productiva de uvilla (Physalis peruviana L.), con el fin de conocer la situación actual de este frutal andino y evaluar los puntos fuertes y las limitantes de los sistemas de producción y comercialización interna y externa tanto de fruta fresca como del producto transformado.
