Ants are a taxonomic group commonly used to understand environmental changes since these insects are sensitive to environmental impact, and are also highly abundant and diverse (Underwood and Fisher, 2006). This group of invertebrates was selected to understand the impact of different land uses on their diversity in three zones of the highlands of the San Cristobal island: the Galapagos National Park zone, a restauration zone, and the agricultural zone of Hacienda La Tranquila. Nine samplings were done in each area from July 24 until August 17, 2013. In each zone ten sampling points were established.
