Efecto de la fertilización a base de biol en la producción de pimiento (Capsicum annum L) híbrido Quetzal bajo condiciones de invernadero.

Pepper, Capsicum annum L, is a product that with others such us tomatoes, is one of the most demanded from consumers at the time of making it part of their nutritional diet. In Ecuador, the growth of peppers is becoming more popular; however, the lack of investigation and development in this area do not allow the production to reach the optimal yield. For these reason, the production of Quetzal, a hybrid of pepper, under controlled conditions based on an organic fertilization with biol was studied. This experiment took place in the Valley of Tumbaco, at the greenhouse´s complex owned by the fruit company Montserrat, where 4 doses of biol were evaluated (90%, 70%, 50% and 30%); the variables of study were: weight of the fruit, number of fruits, length and diameter of the fruit, height of the plant and height of production. The results indicate that the doses 70%, 30% and control, were statistically the same for the variable weight of the fruit, where the dose with 30% biol obtained the higher magnitude; for the variable number of fruits the doses 90%, 70%, 30% and control were statistically the same, for this variable the dose with 70% reach the higher magnitude. For the rest of the variables, significant statistically differences were not found. The estimated cost of production per hectare was $ 2,200.07. In order to obtain better results about the effect of biol, a long term experiment should be realized.El pimiento, Capsicum annum L, es un producto hortícola que junto con otros como el tomate, es uno de los más demandados por los consumidores al momento de incorporarlos en su dieta alimenticia. En el Ecuador, el cultivo de pimiento se vuelve cada vez más popular, sin embargo la falta de investigación y desarrollo tecnológico en esta área, hace que su producción no tenga el óptimo rendimiento; por esta razón se estudió la producción de pimiento híbrido Quetzal bajo condiciones controladas, basada en una fertilización orgánica con biol. Este estudio se lo realizó en el Valle de Tumbaco, en el complejo de invernaderos de la Empresa Frutícola Montserrat donde se evaluaron 4 dosis de biol (90%, 70%, 50% y 30%); las variables de estudio fueron: peso del fruto, número de frutos, longitud y diámetro del fruto, altura de planta y altura de carga. Los resultados indican que las dosis 70%, 30% y el testigo fueron estadísticamente iguales en el caso de peso de fruto, en donde la dosis con 30 % de biol obtuvo la mayor magnitud; en la variable número de frutos las dosis 90%, 70%, 30% y testigo fueron estadísticamente iguales, en esta variable la dosis 70% biol alcanzó la mayor magnitud. Para el resto de variables no se encontraron diferencias estadísticas significativas entre las diferentes dosis de biol empleadas. El costo de producción estimado fue de $ 2,200.07 por hectárea. Para obtener mejores resultados para medir el efecto del biol, se recomienda la realización del experimento a largo plazo
