International audienceWe are working since 1997 on the safe control of production machines through communication network without guaranteed quality of service. The network with no guaranteed quality of service chosen at this time was the Internet, preferably over integrated service digital network ISDN or the switched telephone network (PSTN). A client-server system has been developed entirely in java language, which allows the remote control of the machines via applets executed in a Web browser.
