The aim of the study is to present and evaluate the views of two Hungarian authors, one from the era of Dualism and one from the post-WWl era, who questioned the legitimacy of the Roman Catholic Status in Transylvania. Their reasons were different, but oftentimes their arguments were similar or can be viewed as parallel. We find it important to examine certain notions that are frequendy referred to by those opposing the Status. After the transition of Imperium, Romanian political circles wishing to support the elimination of the Status with historical reasons often referred to Ferenc Csorba's ideas.
