The main scope of this thesis has been to extract relative depth using the MUSCLE AUV interferometric side looking. It has divided this subject into two different part: Real Aperture Sonar (considering only the Side-Scan Sonar SS sonar) and Synthetic Aperture Sonar(SAS). For both depth estimation, it has been used the same interferometric processing, to emphasize the difference between the two differences apertures for what concerns resolution, and height accuracy. The scope has been to learn from interferometric processing in radar literature and transfer to interferometric sonar existing algorithms
