Kiusoittelun kielioppi: nuorten elämää luokkahuoneissa

In this article I will analyze classroom interaction focusing on playful interaction between students. I suggest that in classroom interaction there is a tension between a “formal” position of a studying student and a “informal” position of a mate in peer interaction. The analyses focus on playful interaction that can be identified as verbal or non-verbal teasing. The method used is conversation analysis. Teasing is analyzed in order to explore the border of teasing and bullying. I will present a small grammar of teasing in order to specify its characteristics. The aim of the grammar of teasing is to help teachers’ work on identifying teasing from bullying. Bullying is still a major problem at schools but teachers find it difficult to identify this activity. However, I will argue that playful interaction, including verbal and non-verbal teasing, is a pervasive element of classroom interaction.Peer reviewe
