SPEAKING FOR BUSINESS

Oral communication is a key productive skill to form in any business context. Implementation of voice and video asynchronous speaking tools with Business English (BE) students represents a steep learning curve with multiple positive outcomes: enriched production and content, more memorable learning experiences, sharing of student voices in the public space, increased awareness and learner autonomy. Moreover, asynchronous speaking tools offer a democratic medium where all the students rather than most proficient ones have the opportunity to practise speaking and thus increase confidence, which is crucial in large groups of adult students. The paper will showcase several project-based English speaking activities conducted with undergraduate Business students, while offering BE trainers a portfolio to be adopted and adapted in their own teaching practice.
