The review deals with the problem of activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), the major inhibitory neurotransmitter, in gliomas. It has been shown that GABA has an antitumor activity in most models and cancer patients have an increased level of GABA in tumor tissue and biological fluids (blood, liquor). There is a hypothesis that the relationship between GABA and the inflammatory cytokine system is one of the mechanisms of antitumor activity of GAB
