This presentation is split into two main parts. In the first, we estimate photo-physical constants of titanium doped sapphire from a simple analytical model using a Huang-Rhys theory for the determination of the spectral profile of simple bands and from a realistic hypothesis of superposition of the latter. We define a formula for the total refractive index of Ti:sapphire as a function of dopant concentration. In a second part, we evaluate, according to the verification of a concept, the laser capability without population inversion for a doped crystal with low symmetry.
