This research is a quasi experimental with nonequivalent control group designs which is backed by the low ability of student's reading comprehension skills in elementary school. The research was conducted at SD Muhammadiyah 6 Pekanbaru in the even semester of the academic year 2016/2017. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of DRTA strategy (Directed Reading Thinking Activity) toward student's reading comprehension skills in class V SD Muhammadiyah 6 Pekanbaru.
