Kajian Aspek Epidemiologi Taeniasis dan Sistiserkosis di Papua

. Taeniasis is an infection of the digestive tract by adult worm Taenia solium, Taenia saginata, and Taenia asiatica. Cysticercosis is a disease infection of the soft tissue caused by Taenia solium larvae. The diseases were found in Indonesia especially Bali, North Sumatra and Papua Province , with prevalence range of 2-48%. Epidemiology analysis taeniasis and cysticercosis were very necessary to understood the distribution pattern, prevalence and transmission of diseases (T. solium life cycle). The results of Seroepidemiology survey conducted in 2007 by the Health Departement of Papua Office in Paniai regency, Jayawijaya regency, Puncak Jaya regency, and The Pegunungan Bintang regency were found cases of taeniasis and cysticercosis. Survey conducted in 2009 by the Research and Development UPF Papua in Jayapura city and Keerom District also found diseases taeniasis and cysticercosis. The Risk factors and patterns spread of taeniasis-cysticercosis there were the mobility of the population of carriers from endemic areas to non-endemic areas. Poor environmental sanitation, socio-economic, cultural and low education were also a factor affecting the spread of taeniasis and cysticercosis in Papua. Intervention required by the Department of Health for the provision of mass de-worming and health education for the community.
