The aim of this study is the functional barrier evaluation of plastic films in direct contact with food (primary packaging) versus organic compounds derived from printed cardboard secondary packaging, constituted by recycled paper. A standard uncoated BOPP film and other different coated films have been tested. Migration tests were carried out according to European Union plastic Regulation 10/2011, that is, 10 days at 60°C. The results showed that coating deposition significantly improves the barrier properties of standard polypropylene
