Nonlinear optical (NLO) materials have applications in harmonic frequency generation devices, hybrid bistable devices, modulators, parametric amplifiers and IR converters, optical bistability, phase conjugation, frequency tripling in deep UV conversion, optical communication, optical computing, optical data processing, photonics etc. Organic nonlinear optical (NLO) crystals have poor mechanical strength, poor thermal stability and highly volatile and these disadvantages can be avoided in inorganic and semiorganic NLO crystals.
