This work concerns the study of the interaction between particles of electrorheological fluid (ER) under a DC field. Thèse fluids are suspensions of micronic particles (1 - 100 uni) dispersed in a dielectric liquid. Under an electric field (a few kV/mm) their rheological properties are modified (yield stress and increase of the apparent viscosity when the fluid flows). We point out that a necessary condition to obtain an ER effect is that the particles be more conducting than the liquid phase. In this case the interaction is determined by the strength of the electric field and by the ratio of the conductivities solid/liquid.
