Paper:13 pp., digital file.In recent decades, the act of supermarkets abandoning and disinvesting in inner city locations has resulted in increasing food insecurity and urban decline for residents. These so-called ‘food deserts’, occurring in cities throughout the United Kingdom and North America, and including Winnipeg, should be recognized as a serious threat to the revitalization of inner city areas. A variety of solutions can be addressed in the context of policy change and community development.Institute of Urban Studie
