An important part of the directorial work of Ivo Raić, after his return from abroad, includes opera productions in the period from 1909 to 1929. That part of Raić’s work for The Croatian National Theater in Zagreb is far less documented than his other stage productions. This research is based on the unpublished manuscript entitled The Croatian Opera (1909 – 1919) by the director of the Opera at that time, Srećko Albini, in which the author describes the basic problems of organizing and running the Opera, expressing his principles about the creation of the Opera repertoire and the engagement of some producers, as well as local and foreign artists.
