The Sustainability Issues of Chinese Food Security in the Context of Industrialization and Urbanization

Nowadays, Chinese agricultural production are relied more on the female and the elder famer as a result of many male workforces from rural village move to urban cities. Due to the migration of the energetic workforce from rural village, a large amount of fertile land was abandoned. In addition to the shortage of labor force, more and more cultivated land and water resources occupied by the construction of manufacture and infrastructure during the process of industrialization. Since the population of China will continue to increase until 2030 and with the improvement of the people's living standard, more demand for food is inevitable in the coming decades. Even today china can supply enough food to meet the demand. However, in the long run the food security problem will happen unless some necessary actions are taken now
