This session is for beginners who are interested in learning APIs or want to know what an API is. It will answer questions such as what is an API? How do APIs work? What are the advantages of APIs? The session will also show basic codes to get information (book cover, summary, review etc.) from Syndetics, basic codes to retrieve item information using Sirsi web services, basic codes to search Amazon\u27s database and what we are doing with the returned result. If time permits, I will show how we are using the API to integrate novelist features into our catalog
