This report describes a program of research designed to explore the cognitive processes and representations that subserve dietary reporting in surveys. Specific experiments investigated recall of which foods were eaten, estimation of the frequency with which foods are eaten, and judgments of portion sizes. Implications for cognition, surveys, and nutritional epidemiology are discussed.Includes bibliographical references (p. 28-29).199
