Meta-analyses were conducted to examine the specific effects of two self-management education programs developed at Stanford University, Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) and Arthritis Self-Management Program (ASMP). Each meta-analysis combined the results of more than 20 studies of the intervention. In contrast to previous chronic disease self management meta-analyses, these analyses looked at each intervention program in isolation, combined both randomized controlled studies with longitudinal program evaluations, and looked at a wide range of health outcomes.
