States reporting chikungunya virus disease cases \ue2\u20ac\u201c United States, 2016 (as of November 1, 2016)

2016 provisional data for the United States\ue2\u20ac\ua2 Chikungunya virus disease became a nationally notifiable condition in 2015. Cases are reported to CDC by state and local health departments using standard case definitions.\ue2\u20ac\ua2 As of November 1, 2016, a total of 119 chikungunya virus disease cases with illness onset in 2016 have been reported to ArboNET from 34 U.S. states (Table & Map). All reported cases occurred in travelers returning from affected areas. No locally-transmitted cases have been reported from U.S. states.\ue2\u20ac\ua2 A total of 146 chikungunya virus disease cases with illness onset in 2016 have been reported to ArboNET from U.S. territories (Table). To date, 145 locally acquired cases and 1 travel-associated case have been reported from Puerto Rico.\ue2\u20ac\ua2 Table.
