Audience: Planners of mass gatherings (large events) responsible for planning for and responding to a flu pandemic and its recovery.Mass gathering (large event): The World Health Organization (WHO) defines a mass gathering (large event) as a planned or unplanned event where the number of attendees is enough to strain the public health resources of a community, state, or nation.Purpose: This guide provides information about nonpharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) and their use during a flu pandemic. NPIs are actions, apart from getting vaccinated and taking antiviral medications, that people and communities can take to help slow the spread of respiratory illnesses like pandemic flu.
