This research was done to observe the low reading-understanding ability of the students of the 5th grade of SDN 2 Suntenjaya, especially in Bahasa Indonesia. It was shown in their under average achievement in KKM (Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimum). It was caused by the methods and strategies applied by the teachers were found to be not-so-appropriate and unattractive for the students. Hence, this research was focused on improving the reading-understanding ability on children’s narrative story using SQ3R method.
