The present study concerns a problem faced by scholarship grantees in achieving a good speaking score for the IELTS before they pursue a higher education overseas. This study was undertaken to find out the strategies EAP course participants use in learning speaking for IELTS. It was also aimed at finding out the most effective strategies as perceived by them. The participants were 80 grantees of DIKTI for batch 2012. This study is descriptive. It is largely qualitative with a touch of quantitative method. The data were collected through questionnaire, interview, and classroom observation.
