Aim: This study used a descriptive exploratory qualitative approach to explore the needs of Chinese-Australian family carers who cared for an older family member with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes. Method: Participants were recruited through two Chinese speaking general medcal practitioners and a leader in a Buddhist temple. There were four particpants. Results: A thematic analysis revealed four major themes and several sub-themes. The major themes were labeled Challenges/Burdens, Social Isolation, Disease Management, and Cultural Factors. Conclusion: The Chinese family carers' experienced difficulties in meeting their needs and the needs of the person they were caring for because of language and cultural differences.
