The espanglish

The espanglish Edgar Oronia Murray State University Bicultural identity and the grammar behind the phenomena known as Spanglish, have both given a lot to talk about over the years and continue being popular topics of discussion today. Whether or not Spanglish can be referred to as another language is not up to me to decide; it is up to the different individuals who identify themselves by speaking in this manner. Questions such as why people decide to communicate using this anglicized hybrid dialect will be further examined in this work. The structure of Spanglish grammar is capable enough to confuse just about any monolingual. Different characteristics that constitute Spanglish will be presented mainly as a mixture of English and Spanish, more specifically, code-switching and lexical changes. What is the authenticity and/or popularity of Spanglish in the United States? Interestingly enough, the facts exist and it is a very common and uprising communication style that is spoken by a vast majority of Hispanic individuals across the nation. Many individuals who consider themselves bicultural seem to be very proud of using this vernacular. However, there are some Hispanic people who are simply ignorant of the different utterances that make up the English or Spanish languages. These people are America’s immigrants who find themselves immersed in a different culture, and end up speaking Spanglish more often than not.
