The paper deals with the identification of an irrigation system in presence of not completely known withdrawals. As the system with withdrawal is in general non identifiable, we propose a two level algorithm of optimization with relaxation to identify the dynamics and the withdrawals separately. The proposed approach is based on a time-implicit finite-dimensional model of simplified equations governing open-channel hydraulics. The withdrawals, which are due to the farmers pumpings for the purpose of irrigation, are not completely known ; we propose to separate them in two functions : one over time, and the other over abscissa x along the river.
