The study carried out involves the comparison of the ageing of a series of samples of polyethylene film used for a single season in horticulture. The experiments on accelerated ageing in specialised equipment have been carried out by CENTEXBEL at Gand and actual ageing trials of film used as a greenhouse cover were done by CERCS at Gembloux which is a temperate zone and also at CEMAGREF at Montpellier in the mediterranean region. The comparison of the different types of ageing have been based on the change of the mechanical properties of the film.
