Predicting the impact of drainage on the environment requires the understanding of water transfer mechanisms in soils. In temporarily waterlogged silty soils, this understanding has progressed because of the determination of a genesis mechanisms of high flows, called peak flows, discharged by drainage networks. Using the SIDRA model, hourly measurements of flows discharged by drain pipes and groundwater height can be predicted. Comparison between simulated and measured values indicates that this model can be used as a decision tool by engineers. A short typology of more complex flow schemes in clayey and heavy soils is presented and its implications in terms of choosing the appropriate drainage system are discussed. / La prévision de l'impa...
