The objective of this research project is to analyze the highlanders' entrepreneurial strategies and the ways these strategies affect the development of local communities. To understand this phenomenon, we have decided to study family structures and evolution in the XIXth and XXth centuries. This should give a good idea of the development of winter sport station and of the spatial differences encountered today in the local population's abilities to launch private initiatives.
