To produce chemical compounds, actually the normal route is to mixt the reactants in a vessel, the reactor, and then to separate the products issued from the chemical reaction by traditional unit operations. On the contrary, this work shows that if one uses permselective membranes associated with an electric field, as driving force, only part of the reactants making the needed product are introduced into the reacting volume. As a consequence, the formation of the co-products in the reacting volume is avoided, and the separation of the mixture of product and co-product is not necessary.
