Biological aerated filtration is a recent and intensive process which has been greatly developed over the last few years. A wide range of applications is possible (carbon treatment, nitrogen and phosphorus removal), with different kinds of insertion in the treatment series in accordance with the requirements. This paper presents the results of the study of 3 Biostyr systems (upflow, synthetical medium). The operation of the tested plants confirmed the interest for such a technology in nitrogen removal with different project data depending on the influent quality and the expected performances.
