Unstable zero-sound waves and cluster formation are studied in the framework of molecular dynamics approaches based on Gaussian single particle wave packets. It was observed that zero-sound properties are significantly affected when the Gaussian width takes large values. In approaches considering the widths as dynamical variables, cluster formation by spinodal decomposition is inhibited, due to the spreading of the nucleon wave packet
