Internationally, the nurse practitioner role has been shown to be cost-effective, safe, and instrumental in improving patient outcomes. The nurse practitioner role in Australia is in its infancy. Major stakeholders such as the nurses\u27 boards and state departments of health throughout Australia were contacted to identify major policies and discussion papers.
