Simulation models are used in many fields to experiment with real-world systems to gain insight into their behaviour. Experimenting with simulation models can be time consuming and costly. In order to save costs, experimenters reduce their scope of research or otherwise conduct less thorough investigations into the behaviour of a simulation model, increasing the risk of overlooking valuable information. A possible solution to this particular problem is metamodeling. Metamodeling is mentioned in literature as a way to reduce the number of required experiments.
