In Dutch culture, cycling and walking are the most common ways of active transportation within the city. Nowadays, more than forty percent of all train passengers arrive at the railway station by bicycle. And it is estimated that the combination of bicycle and train will become even more important in the future. But the spatial quality of the bicycle network from the Dutch residential neighbourhoods to the railway station is often poor: uncomfortable and incoherent.
