Background: Although single nucleotide polymorphisms may be potentially important pharmacogenetic determinants of cancer therapy, functional evidence regarding their relevance is currently lacking. The C677T polymorphism in the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene is associated with changes in cellular composition of folates.
