Abstract

In recent years, the subject of the oxidation reactions of reduced sulfur compounds has received much attention. This has been primarily because of the importance of reduced sulfur compounds in the chemistry of the Earth's atmosphere, particularly in the troposphere. The reactions have been studied extensively using experimental and theoretical methods. In particular, there have been many studies of the kinetics and mechanisms of the oxidation reactions of reduced sulfur compounds by radicals such as OH, NO3 and Cl, which are present in the atmosphere. In this article, we aim to provide a comprehensive review of the work undertaken recently in this area
