Bilingualism and digraphism in the Montserrat codex miscellaneus

peer reviewedThe present paper proposes a codicologic, palaeographic and contextual study of an extraordinary Late Antique book: the Montserrat codex miscellaneus. Dated on palaeographic grounds to the IV century AD, this manuscript provides us with evidence of particular interest on bilingualism and digraphism in Byzantine Egypt, for it is the only antique codex containing texts in both Greek and Latin, of both Christian and Secular content, and pertaining to different literary genres, such as rhetoric, hexametric poetry and Christian liturgy
