The study of the development Phenomenon of Taiwan women's weightlifting event

[[abstract]]Thi s study was conducted by l i t erature analys i s and depth - interview to explore the development phenomenon of Taiwan women's weight lifting event. The purposes were to unders tand the his tory and to di sclose some i ssues of Taiwan women's weight lifting event. We also recommend some projects to improve it and draw a vision of hope. The conclusions as followings: 1. Taiwan women's weight lifting event started from Te-kuang girls senior high school in 1985. Mr. Chen Ku-Feng was the coach and the weightlifter was the track and field athlete, too. There were four stages of the development process of Taiwan women's weight lifting event: (1) the germ of it was from 1985 to 1987; (2) it was a prosperous period from 1987 to 1988; (3) it was successful period from 1988 to1999; and (4) it fell into the dark period from 2000 till 2007. 2. In school educational system, the Southern Taiwan women's weight lifting events were numerous than the Northern Taiwan women's weight lifting events. From junior high to university, there were perfect training system and smooth entrance school way for Taiwan women's weightlifters. 3. In Taiwan, there was no sponsor to help Taiwan women's weight lifting event except The First Bank Corporation. 4. Athletes take part in national events competition actively. Athletes are drilled by foreign coaches sometimes, too. Recently there are many training exchanges with China. China is the main country that Taiwan’s Athletes are drilled abroad, too. 5. Taiwan women's weight lifting event are ignored by two dimension factors; one is the Social and culture factors, The other factor is about the government policy. However, Taiwan women's weight lifting athletes’ success is caused by three reasons: one is that women's weight lifting athletes win the game easier than males’; another one is the rich rewards and smooth entrance schools way that attracted the athletes’ involvement; and the other is the nice coaches. 6. The development of Taiwan women's weight lifting event in the future is potential. We expect that our government can support and help women's weight lifting development more. Government would formulate a more comprehensive training policy and restore the rewards system to encourage players and coaches, and assist the development toward elite athletes with occupation career and life in the future.
