[[abstract]]This paper presents a method of using dual PTZ net work cameras to automatically detect and track intruders that enter into an indoor surveillance space. The main advantage of using dual PTZ cameras in the indoor surveillance system is their assignment swap ability. Initially, one PTZ camera is used to monitor the surveillance space to detect for intruders; the second PTZ camera then tracks the intruders once the monitor has detected them. One of the biggest challenges of such a surveillance system is to be able to obtain a clear image of the intruder’s face, allowing the intruder to be either manually or automatically recognized.
