[[alternative]]A Study of Status Quo and Barriers for the Female Teenagers’Participating in Recreation Sport in Taipei County

[[abstract]]The major purpose of this research is to examine the factors resulting in the status quo and barriers of the female teenagers participating in recreation sport in Taipei County. The difference between the factors with different backgrounds, participation and barriers in recreation sport was also investigated. We devise the questionnaire, named “The Investigation on the Participation Condition and the Barrier Factors of Recreational Sport among female teenagers,” as a tool. While the first section queries the present condition of female teenagers’ involvement in recreational sport, the second section is about their obstacles in recreational sport. The third section is the basic information about questionnaire taker. A total of 1070 copies had been distributed and 930 copies were successfully collected. The return rate was about 87%. Those valid questionnaires were analyzed by statistical methods, including description statistics, item analysis, factorial analysis and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results were summarized as below. 1. The situation of the participation in recreation sport activities: （1）The top ten recreation sport activities, which teenagers in Taipei County participate in includes basketball, jogging, bicycle, badminton, hula-hoop ,rope skipping, volleyball, swimming, Dodge ball and hiking. （2）The categories of the recreation sport activities include ball sport, entertaining sport, outdoor sport, water sport, dance sport, defense sport. 2. The factors of recreation sport barriers （1） The top five recreation sport barriers sport affecting the participation of teenagers in Taipei Country in recreation sport activities were: time, schoolwork pressure, lack of friendship, weather, lack of tools and equipments. （2） The factors of recreation sport barriers in the participation of teenagers’ in recreation sport activities can be categorized as following three barriers factor: structural, intrapersonal, human relationship. 3. The comparison of divergence in the factors of difference backgrounds and recreation sport activities participation and the factors of recreation sport barriers （1） The frequency of the recreation sport activities participation for the teenagers in Taipei County, there was obvious divergence in the frequency of the recreation sport activities participation and the different background factors, such as educational degree, parents’ education, family income and academic grades. （2） The degree of the barriers in recreation sport activities: for the teenagers in Taipei County, there was obvious divergence in the degree of the barriers in recreation sport activities and the different background factors, such as educational degree, parents’ education and academic grades. Some implications of the study: 1. The government or related bureaus should consider setting up more gymnasiums in the community. 2. The schools should consider training programs for developing sports professionals. 3. The government or related bureaus should plan sports events particularly for those who come from families with a low socio-economical status. 4. The government or related bureaus should plan sports events particularly for female teenagers free of charge.
