[[alternative]]The Growing Experiences of Parental Education Program for Gifted Preschoolers

[[abstract]]The growing experience of eleven families with gifted preschoolers were explored in this qualitative study. Data were collected within one year through observations, interviews and document analyses. As the results, five core themes were synthesized： (1)The program helped parents not only to gain knowledge relating to gifted education, but also to know better about their talented children. (2)Lectures in the program were popular with these parents. The experience sharing and discussions from both study groups and movies provided more opportunities for parents to seek for mutual supports and to exchange their ways toward child’s education. (3)The second stage program designed according to the needs of parents were more effective on information providing and participation motivation. (4)When parents showed consistent attitudes and standards, gifted child would not be confused and know what to do. (5)Parents were satisfied with this parental education program. They looked forward to participating in related activities in the near future. To sum up, this parental education program helped parents of gifted preschoolers to gain both knowledge and skills relating to gifted education. Supports and encouragements from participating in this program were the other gains for these parents.
