[[abstract]]Miscanthus transmorrisonensis Hayata is an endemic gramineous species of Taiwan .Genetic variation within and among populations were determined by isozyme electrophoresis analysis. Samples were collected from 8 different populations: Ho-huan shan, Hsueh shan, Ta-hsueh shan, Nan-hu ta shan, Yu shan, Kuan shan, Kuan-shan Ling and Ta-kuan shan. Allozyme frequency analysis of 16 loci showed the mean percentage of polymorphic loci is 56.3%, mean alleles per locus approximates 2, mean expected value of heterozygosity ( HE ) is 0.21 and mean observed value of heterozygosity ( Ho) is 0.17.
